A Commitment to "Buying Local"
Mohegan Sun is committed to buying locally, supporting the local and regional economy and creating jobs and new business opportunities outside our facilities. Our philosophy of buying local has translated into more than $500 million spent annually in goods and services from local vendors near our Connecticut and Pennsylvania resort casinos, a philosophy we intend to replicate here in Eastern Massachusetts. This diverse group of suppliers and partners is essential – and we purchase everything from office supplies, computers and cars, to furniture, marketing materials and professional services.

A Commitment to the Community
Since 1996, Mohegan Sun has demonstrated its commitment to our host communities as evidenced by the thousands of dollars donated to local non-profits and charitable organizations. In addition, numerous good causes have benefited from both in-kind contributions as well as the many hours of volunteer services provided by members of our staff.
Since its entry to Massachusetts, Mohegan Sun has been an avid supporter of the non-profit community throughout the Commonwealth. Since 2009, Mohegan Sun has contributed more than $867,000 to Massachusetts entities, including more than $125,000 to the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling. Mohegan Sun’s landlord at Suffolk Downs has been equally philanthropic in Revere and the surrounding communities. Mohegan Sun Massachusetts intends to continue the track record of charitable giving, beginning with a commitment of $50,000 toward athletic programs in Revere and a similar pledge of $50,000 to continue the Citi Performing Arts Center's community outreach program.
A Commitment to Responsible Gaming
Mohegan Sun has developed a comprehensive Compulsive and Problem Gaming plan including a variety of programs and informational tools to help inform our patrons and partner communities.
Mohegan Sun has also been a supporter of the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling, an active participant in vetting policy and processes there and a charter member of the Massachusetts Partnership for Responsible Gambling.
A Commitment to Hiring Local
Mohegan Sun is committed to its employees — the core of our success. Currently, in Connecticut, Mohegan Sun is one of the five largest employers in the state, employing more than 8,400 people – 90 percent who live locally. We intend to bring that same tradition to Revere where this region will play an important role in providing the skilled workforce needed to run a Mohegan Sun casino in Massachusetts.
A Commitment to Regional Tourism
Mohegan Sun will create a highly desirable destination experience for area residents, out-of-state guests and international visitors that will drive increased visitation and higher revenue for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mohegan Sun Massachusetts will align a marketing approach with Greater Boston’s other key visitor organizations and tourism assets to ensure that the existing reach of those organizations is expanded and deepened.
Mohegan Sun Massachusetts will work directly with key regional stakeholders - including the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GBCVB), Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA), Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) and MassPort - on an impactful collaborative marketing strategy to promote the city, the region and the state.
Mohegan Sun has a proven history of developing valuable partnerships with local businesses and tourist destinations. Beginning in 1996, the leadership and management team of Mohegan Sun led a collaboration of attractions and tourism agencies throughout South Eastern Connecticut to brand the region “Mystic Country.” This destination brand and identity is present at the many other participating attractions, Chambers of Commerce, and Visitors Centers throughout the region. Mohegan Sun helped position Mystic Country as an exciting and colorful destination blending the tranquility of classic New England seascapes and scenic rolling hills with rich cultural heritage and sophisticated, top-notch entertainment including Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport, and the Last Green Valley.
A Commitment to Local Transportation
The Host Community Agreement between Mohegan Sun Massachusetts and the City of Revere prescribes many improvements to address long-standing traffic issues in the greater region. Mohegan Sun will finance all infrastructure improvements to enhance the surrounding roadway network, accommodate additional Resort-generated trips, and facilitate access to the Resort on public transportation by expanding the Beachmont MBTA rapid transit station. Infrastructure improvements that will be completed in connection with the gaming establishment are anticipated to cost between $42 million and $45 million. These infrastructure improvements exceed the impacts of the gaming establishment, and will greatly improve regional transportation issues to the benefit of all surrounding communities.
A Commitment to the Environment
Mohegan Sun Massachusetts will incorporate sustainability into all aspects of the design and operation of the project. An extensive LEED strategy has been developed to ensure the project not only meets the LEED Gold target for New Construction developed by the US Green Building Council but also creates a sustainably designed, energy efficient, environmentally conscious building that is healthy for its employees and visitors.
